GDPR Central Statistical Office

In connection with the implementation of the requirements of Regulation (EU) 2016/679 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 27 April 2016 on the protection of natural persons with regard to the processing of personal data and on the free movement of such data, and repealing Directive 95/46/EC, the Central Statistical Office (hereinafter referred to as the Central Statistical Office) hereby informs about the principles and your rights related to the processing of your personal data by the Central Statistical Office.

  1. Indication of the controller - The controller of your personal data is the President of the Central Statistical Office with its registered office in Warsaw (00-925 Warsaw) at al. Niepodległości 208.
  2. Purposes and legal basis for processing your personal data: The Central Statistical Office (GUS) processes your personal data pursuant to Article 6(1)(c) and (e) of the GDPR for the purpose of conducting statistical research, which is necessary to achieve the objectives arising from the Act of 29 June 1995 on Public Statistics related to the implementation of statistical obligations and the tasks of the Administrator, in particular the performance of the Administrator's obligations or the Administrator's rights arising from the Act on Public Statistics.
  3. We hereby inform you that your personal data processed by the GUS are subject to statistical confidentiality, which means that personal data collected in statistical research are subject to strict protection, and sharing or using this data for purposes other than those specified in point 2 is prohibited.
  4. Source of personal data: If your personal data were not collected directly from you, the Central Statistical Office (GUS) informs you that your personal data (name, surname, contact details) were obtained from publicly available registers (e.g., CEIDG, KRS), official registers, and other registers and records maintained pursuant to acts or implementing acts issued thereunder, containing information about national economic entities and their activities, information about natural persons, their lives and circumstances, and information regarding phenomena, events, and facilities, as well as public administration information systems (i.e., systems for collecting, gathering, and processing information by public administration bodies, the Social Insurance Institution, the National Health Fund, the Polish Financial Supervision Authority, registration authorities, other state or local government legal entities, and other entities maintaining official registers).
  5. Obligation to provide personal data: To the extent that your personal data are collected directly from you, the provision of your personal data is required by law or is necessary to achieve the purposes of the aforementioned. The Controller's purposes. Failure to provide all required personal data may constitute a violation of the provisions of the Public Statistics Act. To the extent that personal data are collected based on consent, providing personal data is voluntary.
  6. Information about the recipients of your personal data: Your personal data will not be shared with any recipients.
  7. Periods of personal data processing: Your personal data will be processed for a period of 10 years from the date of collection, and if you have consented to data processing, until such consent is withdrawn.
  8. Profiling and automated decision-making: Profiling should be understood as a form of automated processing of personal data, which involves the use of personal data, while maintaining statistical confidentiality, for statistical studies, compilations, and analyses, and for the creation of a statistical survey by the President of the Central Statistical Office.
  9. Data subject rights: the right to access personal data, including the right to obtain a copy of such data; the right to request rectification (correction) of personal data – if the data is inaccurate or incomplete; the right to request deletion of personal data; the right to request restriction of personal data processing; the right to data portability; the right to object to the processing of personal data, including profiling; the right to withdraw consent to the processing of personal data, the right to lodge a complaint with the supervisory authority, the President of the Personal Data Protection Office.
  10. Transfer of personal data to entities outside the European Economic Area ("EEA") or international organizations: The Central Statistical Office (GUS) does not share your personal data with entities based outside the EEA or with international organizations.
